Why should I update the firmware on my camera?
We regularly release firmware updates for our devices. These updates can be conveniently checked and installed directly on your device, or you can effortlessly obtain the most recent versions from our resource page.
While your device may be functioning well, we still recommend updating to the latest firmware. This is because our commitment to enhancing user experience means that the latest firmware often includes new features, bug fixes, and performance improvements. By keeping your cameras updated, you ensure the best possible experience and optimal device performance.
Which is the firmware for my camera?
If your cameras are connected to the Internet, you can effortlessly check for updates via the camera’s webpage. However, if your cameras lack Internet access or if you prefer the process of manual updating, please refer to the information below.
In the naming convention of Milesight firmware, the first segment (e.g., 32, 33, 45) of the firmware version number is used to indicate the model or platform of the device. On our firmware resource page, you will find a list of firmware versions, organized by this first segment. Most of the time, downloading the firmware that shares the same first segment in the version number with your device will be the optimal choice. This ensures that the firmware is compatible with your specific camera model.
Note
We have ceased the public distribution of new versions for legacy devices. If you cannot find the appropriate firmware for your cameras on the webpage, please contact our technical support team for assistance.
To ensure the firmware integrity after downloading it from the web, the firmware images are compressed into *.zip files. Please decompress these downloaded files before using them for camera upgrades.
Additionally, when downloading the firmware our LPR cameras, you will need to consider not only the first segment of the version number but also the corresponding region of the LPR algorithm, as it is significantly influenced by regional factors. Typically, the region code is located immediately after the version number. The correlation between the region codes and their respective regions is as follows:
Code | Region |
USA | United States |
ME | Middle East |
EU | Europe |
AP | Asia-Pacific |
AM | Americas (Excluding the US) |
Note
Please be aware that firmware compatibility is dependent on the correspondence of region codes with the current region of the device. This holds true even if the models are identical. Please download the corresponding firmware of the same region as the firmware currently running on your camera to ensure a successful update.
