Description

This article provides solutions for several common abnormal image problems at night, which usually include: reflective image, ghost image, out of focus, etc.

Note:

Before the troubleshooting of the abnormal night image issue starts, we strongly recommend that the camera firmware should be upgraded to the latest version, which will optimize algorithms for displaying images.

Issues

1. Reflective Image

2. Ghost Image

3. Out of focus

Resolution

1. Reflective Image

When two light spots appear on both sides of the camera image and affect the display, it is usually caused by the reflection of infrared light.

1.1 General method

a. Confirm whether the protective film on the lens is removed.

b. Wipe the lens cover with a soft cloth to ensure that no water droplets and dust are attached.

c. Avoid infrared reflection caused by the occlusion of surrounding objects.

For example, the camera forms an angle with the ceiling or wall, resulting in IR reflection at night.

1.2 For Dome Model

a. Make sure the foam pad is intact, and adjust it to ensure that there is no gap between the foam pad and the lens cover, which will cause IR reflection

b. Adjust the lens position to ensure that the lens will not illuminate the protective box, which will also cause IR reflection.

c. If the lens cover is totally yellow and the stains cannot be erased, you can temporarily remove the lens cover to improve the image, and contact us to replace the lens cover.

d. All grey image. This usually happens when the vandal-proof mini dome camera removes the foam pad and directly installs the lens cover, then IR reflection will cause the overexposure, please confirm whether the foam pad is in good condition.

1.3 For Bullet Model

If the rain cover is pulled out too much, it will also cause IR reflection, you can try to adjust the rain cover.

2. Ghost Image

Ghost Image is when object is moving, smearing occurs in the view which is detrimental to fluency, especially in a low-light environment.

A. Check if the DNR is set too high.

B. Check whether the bit rate is too low, you can increase the bit rate and then check the image again;

3. Out of Focus

A. If you are using a motorized lens, you could try to focus manually in the Image Config of Live View interface.

B. Make sure that Day/Night Switch Refocus is turned on.
