I Introduction

Sometimes, NVR may fail to reboot when it suddenly loses power and is powered on instantly. It only appears on Milesight 8000 series NVR with a small probability. When it comes to the situation, you can do the following steps to solve the problem.

II Solution

The NVR components involved

Main Board

                                 Alarm Output Interface                     Short-circuit Interface

Alarm Output Interface: To connect external alarm equipment, with 4 short-circuit caps on it. They are marked as 4,3,2,1 in sequence from left to right, corresponding to the Alarm Output 1, 2,3,4 respectively.

Alarm Output

Short-circuit Interface: To short-circuit hardware and software Shutdown.

Hardware Shutdown: On the outside of NVR. Decide whether to run the system.

Software Shutdown: In NVR’s local display interface, used to turn off the NVR.The same function as Hardware Shutdown.

All the ‘Shutdown’ mentioned below refer to both Hardware Shutdown and Software Shutdown.

Power ON/OFF: Provide power supply. On the outside of the NVR.

Basic Principle

Under normal power supply conditions, NVR’s on and off is controlled by the Shutdown button. In the case of instantaneous power off and on, the Shutdown may turn invalid, then such phenomenon does appear. So to solve this problem, we can short-circuit the Shutdown, so that NVR can run without its control, and directly start the system when powered on by default.

Steps

1. Go to the Alarm Interfaces of the main board, all of the short-circuit caps on it can be removed unless you are using it now.

2. Remove one of the four short-circuit caps and pay attention to which Alarm Output Interface it corresponds to.

3. Plug the cap you just removed from the Alarm Interface into the Short-circuit Interface.

4. At this point, when you press the Power ON/OFF, NVR will start to run directly without pressing the Shutdown again.

Note:

1. Removing a short-circuit plug does not means the corresponding alarm interface to be invalid, but to change it from a wet contact type to a dry contact type. If you have to use all the interfaces, an additional Short-circuit cap is required.

2. When you press the Shutdown after it is short-circuited, NVR would turn to an automatic reboot.

3. After short-circuiting the Shutdown, you can only turn off NVR through Power On/Off button.
